Event Information 2019

General

The race is based around Tumbles formerly known as Portobello Indoor Bowling Centre, 20 Westbank Street, Edinburgh, EH15 1DR. The race will take place on 1st January 2019 starting at 10.30am.

Route

The Start and Finish are both close to Tumbles. After the Start the route goes South East to the old start at the Dog and Cat Home, turns, goes all the way to the turn at Joppa, then back to the Bowling Centre to Finish. It is a flat accurate 4 mile race. Clear route maps will be posted at Registration and can be found here.

Entries

Entries are online at Entry Central

The Entry Fee is £9.00 for SAF affiliated runners and £11.00 for unaffiliated runners.

Entrants need to have been born before 31st August 2003.

The race is limited to 400 entries.

Entry closing date Thursday 27th December.

NO ENTRIES on the day even if the limit of 400 has not been reached.

Registration

Race Numbers will be issued from 9.15am on the day of the race at Registration which is located at Tumbles.

The number you were allocated by Entry Central is not the one you will receive at Registration on 1st Jan.

We will order the numbers alphabetically by second name. At registration there will be several queues split by second name. To speed things up please make sure you get in the right queue.

Race Numbers are not exchangeable and no-one will be allowed to compete without one

Cancellation

In the event of the race having to be cancelled entry fees will not be refunded.

After event expenditure all surplus will go to charity including MND Scotland (Motor Neuron Disease Scotland).

Prizes

Presented at approximately 11.15pm either outside on the Prom or in Tumbles previously known as Portobello Indoor Bowling Club if wet.

Prizes which will be Run and Become Vouchers.
Male: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 1st Over 40, 1st Over 50, 1st Over 60, 1st Junior
Female: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 1st Over 40, 1st Over 50, 1st Over 60, 1st Junior

Facilities

Car parking is available close to Tumbles. Toilet facilities are also available here.

Fun Run

There will be a 1 mile Fun Run starting at 10.00am.

Entries are on the day £2.00 per person.

Entries close at 9.45am.

This is chiefly intended for athletes who are too young to compete in the 4 mile race.

Charity

We are again supporting MND Scotland (Motor Neuron Disease Scotland)

Once all expenses for staging the race have been paid the remainder will go to charity. We were able to donate £1736.00 for the event staged 1/1/2017. Thank you.
