Scottish 10 Mile Road Championships

It is thought that the 10 mile championship was introduced by the S.A.A.A. on 1/5/1991 at Ravencraig, Wishaw. It was discontinued after 1994 and restarted in 2011.

The most enduring 10 mile race in Scotland is the Tom Scott which was established in 1962 and has run continuously since then. See here for details. The course was measured by Raymond Hutchison in 1993 and found to be an accurate 10 miles. However the course is mainly downhill and sometimes downwind making the times ineligible for record purposes. The new route in Strathclyde Park was established in 2004 and has a course certificate from Alan Young.
